Abstract

Hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) is an important signaling molecule affecting vascular tone and inflammation. The project investigates how menopause, obesity, and type II diabetes alter the signaling pathway’s effects on the cardiovascular system, with a special focus on the role of perivascular adipose tissue. The research uses an experimental model of obese diabetic female rats (Zucker diabetic obese rats/ZDF) before and after ovariectomy and compares some results with parameters in women at different stages of menopause. The results will contribute to the understanding of sex-specific mechanisms of diabetic complications and to the development of personalized treatment for postmenopausal women.
